Racial Features

Natural Agility

Valstrax-blooded characters are lithe, lightning-fast, and built for aerial maneuvering. Your Dexterity score increases by 2 (already represented in Ability Scores). You have a base walking speed of 30 feet and a flying speed of 60 feet. You can fly so long as you aren’t wearing medium or heavy armor. If you are knocked prone while flying, you fall unless you spend your reaction to level your stance and remain airborne.

Usage: Always active

Keen Valstrax Vision

The keen, predatory vision of Valstrax courses through your blood. You have proficiency in Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight. You can pick out tiny details and distant targets: when making a Perception check that relies on sight at a range greater than 60 feet, you gain a +2 bonus to the check. In darkness, you have darkvision to 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, its range increases by 30 feet.

Usage: Always active

Second Lungs — Dragon Engine

Embedded in your chest are specialized vents and a secondary lung chamber — a living internal engine that inhales ambient air and converts it into draconic element (the 'lung points' described below). Your Lung Point (LP) maximum equals 100 × your character level. LP is a resource tracked separately from hit points. You regain LP by forcing air into the engine: as a bonus action, you may stabilize your breath to restore 10 × your level LP; as an action, you may take a deliberate intake to restore 20 × your level LP; or by spending your entire turn focusing on inhalation and conditioning, you restore 30 × your level LP. You cannot exceed your LP maximum. Using certain dragon-empowered abilities consumes LP. If you are reduced to 0 LP, you suffer one level of exhaustion and cannot use Dragon Empower features until you regain at least 10 × your level LP. After a long rest you regain LP equal to your full maximum.

Usage: Replenish LP using Bonus Action/Action/Full Turn as described

Dragon Empower

You can channel the element converted in your second lungs into your strikes, flight, and other abilities. When you take a weapon attack action (melee or ranged), you may spend LP to empower that attack. Costs and effects scale with the amount of LP spent (all costs in LP are exact): - Minor Boost (Bonus Action): Spend 10 × your level LP to add 1d6 elemental damage (type chosen from lightning or fire) to one weapon attack this turn and gain +10 feet flying speed until the end of your turn. - Major Boost (Action): Spend 20 × your level LP to add 2d6 elemental damage and knockback 5 feet on a hit (Strength or Dexterity save DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier to resist push) and gain +20 feet flying speed until end of turn. - Jet Burst (Full Turn): Spend 30 × your level LP and use your entire turn to launch yourself in an explosive jet: you fly up to three times your flying speed in a straight line; each creature you pass within 5 feet of must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC as above) or take 3d6 elemental damage and be knocked prone. You may pass through gaps and can end this movement early. The elemental damage type is chosen when you first use the trait each long rest (lightning or fire).

Usage: No set daily limit; limited by Lung Points (LP).

Exertion Risk

Your dragon engine is potent but fragile. If you end your turn having used more LP in the last minute than half of your LP maximum, you must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion (DC increases by +1 for each additional consecutive minute of such overuse). You cannot intentionally reduce your own maximum LP. When you drop to 0 LP you immediately suffer 1 level of exhaustion and cannot use Dragon Empower until you regain at least 10 × your level LP.

Usage: Always monitored
